NEWS FROM JANUARY 2017

The Light House Café has been blessed in so many ways. We have had plenty of food to feed every person that has come in for breakfast or lunch. Whether the menu includes baked chicken, rice and gravy, green beans, bread, and peaches; or a hearty breakfast menu of grits, eggs, and toast or oatmeal or cereal, we always strive to provide a warm, well-balanced meal. 

We are very excited to resume "Cooking Matters," a class conducted by Glades Initiative. At the last class, we had six people participate. Each student received the groceries needed to cook the provided recipe, and then, they were able to enjoy what they had cooked. In addition, they were given additional groceries to take home, to prepare the same recipe at home. All participants enjoyed the class very much! We will start a new set of classes on February 3rd, and there are ten people registered.

The Light House Café has received the donations needed to add a walk-in freezer and refrigerator to the back of the kitchen Thank you to each and every one of you that made this possible with your generous donations! The first and second steps have already been completed, which were to move the apartment mailboxes to a new location and relocate the three air-conditioning units. Our third step is to demolish the old walk-ins to create room for the new ones. As always, we continue to depend on our very dedicated volunteers. They are each incredibly hard working and always keep God in their words and actions as we serve the people of the LHC.

Last, but certainly not least, Debra Allen and I have been busy preparing for The Great Charity Challenge on February 4th. We will be decorating tables for our Team Sponsor, Hollow Creek, and our Corporate Sponsor, the Shaughnessy Family. We have also prepared gifts for our three riders and their horses. We hope you accept our invitation to attend the Great Charity Challenge and come out to enjoy this great event with us!
