NEWS FROM AUGUST 2016

The improvements of Ella's Closet is officially completed and has inspired us to begin freshening up other areas in the building, such as my office! New paint and flooring have been completed, and we will be moving the furniture back in this week.

The First Baptist Church Youth Group provided $350.00 worth of gift certificates for The Light House Cafe to distribute to families to utilize for school uniforms.  This was truly a blessing! Also, the Crestmont Alliance Church Youth Group in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania volunteered with us for four days. The youth leader, Joel Repic, came as a youth volunteer years ago, and he credits The Light House Cafe with his decision to become a youth leader. We could not be more grateful to have the opportunity to impact others such a Joel and the many others he will subsequently impact!

With school starting back on August 15th, we have transitioned from making tons of PB&J sandwiches for the Life Center Summer Program to our typical school year routine for a short while. However, we are excited for the Life Center After-School Program to begin on August 29th. Our dedicated volunteers feel privileged to be able to provide snacks for the children in this program. We are so grateful to have such wonderful people in our community!

Our first two fish fries were both a success! Feeding South Florida donated catfish for us to serve, and let's just say it was nice to have a change from chicken! We are in the process of improving the efficiency of our food storage and are hoping to soon be able to install a walk-in freezer and refrigerator. This will require a new cement pad, pilings, and new electrical work. Additionally, we are also planning to remodel the bathroom and storage area during this project. Of course, this will be expensive, but we understand it is a necessity as we continue to grow. We are asking that you, please pray alongside us that we will be able to secure the funding needed to make these renovations a reality!

As this month comes to an end, we always strive to provide sustenance for the body and soul of every person that comes into The Light House Cafe. We thank God each day for all that he has equipped The Light House Cafe to do to bring His light into our community and the lives of the many individuals we are able to connect with.

Keep us in your prayers and come visit us soon!

With Love,

Martha Lynn Weeks
