NEWS FROM FEBRUARY 2018
The Lighthouse Cafe was pleased to welcome Shannon Hawkins and her associates from the Quantum Foundation for a tour on February 6th. We were excited to show them all the incredible improvements we have made over the last year. That same day we were also blessed with pork that was purchased and donated from the FFA students at the South Florida Fair and Live Stock show! We were thrilled for the opportunity to add this variety to our menu!
This month, my faithful assistant Gary (Pete) Rolle made four trips to Feeding South Florida Food Bank in Boynton Beach to restock our food supplies. We are all so grateful for both Feeding South Florida and Mr. Rolle! Then, on February 14th, I attended a luncheon for Leadership Palm Beach County to speak about the Lighthouse Cafe and thank this very generous group of people for collecting hygiene items for us. Also during the month of February, Mrs. Carrie Thompson invited me to speak to her English Class at the Palm Beach State College Belle Glade Campus to answer questions about how they can get involved and volunteer at the Lighthouse Cafe. We have already planned their visit, and we look forward to them volunteering with us during the month of March!
Last, but certainly not least, our numbers for the short February month were 675 breakfasts, 979 lunches, 710 “sick and shut-in” meals, and 720 snacks! As always we are blessed to serve God by serving His children, and we thank all of the people that donate food, hygiene items, and money for us to fulfill our mission.
We are beyond thankful for this incredible opportunity to serve.
