The blessings continue into March! This month, we were so grateful to welcome some amazing volunteers, as well as receive an abundance in donations of milk! Pastor Danny from the Life Center brought several members of Christ Fellowship to serve lunch to the patrons and fellowship with them. These visits are always a wonderful outreach for our patrons, so we are excited that Pastor Danny is planning to return at least once a month.

Also this month, Keith, Amanda, Whitney Kay, and Wells Wedgworth brought freshly grown Florida strawberries and volunteered on one of the busiest Wednesdays that we have had in a while! Not only did we serve lunch for our patrons, but we also served delicious hot dogs and baked beans to Glades Youth Connection’s “Spring Break Basketball Camp” led by Desmond Harriot. The Wedgworths helped wrap 600 hot dogs! They were truly such a great help and we were very appreciative of their visit!

During March, the Belle Glade Rotary club invited me to speak at their reception for new members and share the story of the Lighthouse Cafe and Ella’s Closet. It was a pleasure to share our history and mission with the members. We were also so grateful to receive a generous donation from them!

We are very appreciative of the ongoing donations of fresh Florida grown fruits and vegetables. A special thanks to the members of the “Young Farmers and Ranchers” who recently donated Florida grown strawberries for the patrons to enjoy, as well as Glades Day school for their donation of fresh vegetables! Another special thanks to Mary Frances Burke who delivered a generous amount of hygiene items collected by her sorority, Laureate Gamma Zeta. We are so appreciative of this donation and plan to distribute the items in hygiene gift bags at our Easter celebration.

I would like to thank everyone that continues to support our mission through volunteering, giving food, and monetary donations. It is because of each of you that we continue to move forward with our outreach. As always, please continue to pray for our staff, volunteers, and patrons.

God Bless,

Martha Lynn Weeks
