HAPPY NEW YEAR

The Lighthouse Cafe wrapped up 2021 feeling truly blessed! Throughout the holiday season, so many people and businesses have continued to support our ministries, responding to our requests, volunteering, and surprising us with donations beyond what we could imagine.

On November 23rd, we held our annual Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers Paisley Norman and Yaron Lerer helped us serve 220 dinners and bags of food. A very special thank you to: Glades Day School for donating over 1,000 cans of food, Elizabeth Fontechio and Betty Huber for delivering 40 boxes of Thanksgiving foods collected by The Girl Scouts of the Western Community, Phoenix Service Unit for donating dry good food boxes containing a $25.00 gift certificates to Winn Dixie, Popeyes Restaurant in Belle Glade for delivering four large boxes of individual cheesecakes, Cindy King of Re/Max Prestige Realty for giving 15 tote bags with Thanksgiving dinner items, Christ Fellowship for providing turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy, and Anita Courson at Big Lake for collecting donations for us to use to purchase goods.

On December 22nd, we held our annual Christmas meal. Our staff, the Palm Beach Country Sheriff's Deputies, and volunteers Danielle, Marie, and Tonya from RC Hatton, Yaron Lerer, and Paisley Norman made this event run smoothly and safely! We served 276 plates of ham, macaroni and cheese, collards, cornbread dessert, and sweet tea. Along with this delicious meal, each person received a hygiene gift bag. We are so grateful to the many people who donated items for us to include in these bags. A special thank you to Art for Smiles, Lake Shore Middle School Blossom Club, Glades Day School, Crooked Hook Campground, Sugar Cane Growers, Lake Harbor Methodist Church, University of Florida Experiment Station, the Methodist Church Belle Glade, and Mr. Derrick Moore.

As always, we are so thankful for the generous people in our community for continuing to help make the Lighthouse Cafe successful in fulfilling our mission. We could not do what we do without each of you!

Lastly, on January 16th, it was one year that our dear friend and co-worker Gary (Pete) Rolle passed away. He was such an incredibly devoted member of our team, and we miss him every day.

I am praying that you and your family have a very healthy 2022!

God Bless,

Martha Lynn Weeks
